Four Seats at the Table: Shape the Future of the Guild of Oregon Woodworkers
Board Open House - November 8, 2026. 5:30 - 7:30
Come hungry, come curious. The Guild of Oregon Woodworkers is hosting an evening of pizza and conversation with our current Board of Directors.
Beginning in 2027, our board is shifting from a functional board focused on day-to-day operations to a governance board focused on vision, direction, and long-term growth. We're excited to have four open seats, and we'd love to meet the people who might fill them.
Drop in, grab a slice, and chat with the board members who are leading this change. Ask them anything about what serving looks like, what's changing, and where the Guild is headed.
What you'll learn
- What a strategic board does, and how it differs from our current structure
- The time commitment and expectations
- Where the Guild is headed and the opportunities ahead
- How board members work with our committees, volunteers, and members
Who should come
We're looking for people to serve who care about woodworking, our members and volunteers and the community, and who bring skills in areas like finance, fundraising, strategic planning, marketing, partnerships, nonprofit governance, or education. If you enjoy big-picture thinking and want to help the Guild thrive for years to come, we'd love to meet you and have you bring your fresh ideas and thinking.
What to expect
- Pizza and beverages
- Casual conversation with current board members
- A short welcome and overview of the board's new direction at about 5:45
- Plenty of time for questions, no pressure and no commitment
Please register so we order enough pizza. You can also drop in at any point if 5:30 doesn't work.
