Monthly Programs

Each month the guild conducts a general program that is informative, educational and enjoyable for our members. Topics cover a range of woodworking techniques.

Programs are held on the 2nd Thursday of every month starting at 7:00 pm unless otherwise specified.  Social time starts about 6:30, a time to meet your fellow woodworkers and trade tips and stories.  A new member orientation session usually occurs off to the side about 6:45 pm.  The Board of Directors meets at 5:30 pm before the program. Anyone is welcome to attend.

We are always on the lookout for suggestions of topics or improvements we can make to these monthly programs.  If you have input please contact the program coordinator or any Board member.

Marquetry is one of those woodworking techniques that many of us know exists…but which we know little.  Butch Miller is not only a professional pilot  but also a very skilled woodworker in the use of marquetry.  Butch will cover all the basics include what marquetry is; what are the basic tools and techniques; and what resources are available to help you with this fascinating technique.  Butch will include slides of examples and may have examples on hand to view.

Parking for our meetings at the MAC is available anywhere in the MAC parking lot.  The auditorium is straight ahead when you come in the main entrance.  We will of course have our standard Show and Tell and Raffle.

Social time is 6:30pm with the meeting starting at 7:00pm.  See you there!

The Guild membership is fortunate enough to have access to a large veneer bag press at our shop.   The challenge:  Many of us in the Guild are unaware of the many uses for this equipment and just how it works.  Chip Webster is a professional finisher with the Guild and will be presenting a program on the use of the vacuum bag press.  Look for additional details which will be forthcoming but be sure this meeting is on your calendar!
