Guild Seminars


This year the Guild presents an all-star schedule of seminars to help you get started or to expand your woodworking knowledge and skills and to sharpen some old ones. Enroll now as space is limited.

Fees:

Fees are charged according to the length of the class. Saturday morning fees are generally around $45, a 6 hour Saturday class is around $70 to include a lunch. Classes lasting 2 days have a higher fee depending on the class and if materials are included in the class. Fees are discussed in the Class Information below. Fees must be paid in advance prior to the class. There is a surcharge of $15 per day for non-members

Registration:

Early registration is recommended as most classes fill up quickly. Contact the class coordinator listed in the class information. You are registered when the Guild receives your payment and contact information.

As part of the Next Level series, knowing how to sharpen your cutting tools is a gateway skill, a “must have” for every woodworker who aspires to do fine work. Working with sharp tools is a revelation: once you experience the effectiveness of a sharp hand plane or chisel you will never look back.

In this day-long, hands-on workshop you’ll learn the theory behind creating a keen edge on your chisels, plane irons and scrapers. Moving beyond theory, you’ll put each of the sharpening steps into practice as At the end of the day, you’ll go home with at least one tool that’s ready to work for you. More importantly, you’ll have the skill necessary to get all of your edges into top condition and keep them there. $50 for Guild members. Location is Sherwood High School. Well-made and accurately installed knife hinges can add an elegant touch to a finely crafted cabinet door. Come learn about these hinges and how to install them for a classic fit. The course will include a general overview door types and hinge options. The course fee includes lunch and a set of quality brass knife hinges (value: $24)

Safety Notes and Student Advisories: This class will require the use of a palm router, marking knife and chisels.
