Guild Mentor & Assistance Program
What is it?
The Guild has a mentor program where two people are paired to undertake a
typically long term project and relationship. Most people however have a few
basic questions to help them through a tough spot on a project. Someone who has
experience in that area can quickly speed you on your way. The Woodworking
Assistance program is a simple way to get some quick help on most any subject.
Woodworking Assistance
This program exists to help Guild members obtain answers to woodworking
questions. Whether you are planning a new project, are in the middle of a
project and need help or are just trying to learn something more about
woodworking, ask one of the Guild coaches.
Pose a question or a request for help to members of the Guild who are willing to
provide that help and have some knowledge and skill to share.
How does it work?
You need assistance. On this page, click the “Help Line” button. Fill in the
email box with your request and contact information. Please include your name,
telephone number and email address along with your request. If you have a time
availability restriction, include that as well.
Your request will be sent as an email to a number of Guild members who have
elected to be on this panel of advisors. Hopefully, you will receive a response
from one or more of these members. You can respond to any or all of them. Out
of courtesy you should respond to each, at least thanking them for their
willingness to be available. The coaches will expect that if there was more
than one reply to you, you may gravitate towards the one that seems to fit your
needs best.
Your contact with one or more of these people may be limited to a simple email.
Or it can escalate to telephone conversations, discussion at a meeting, home
shop visits or an extended relationship. The final outcome will be driven
totally by your mutual interests.
COACHES WANTED
There is always a need for people willing to share their knowledge. If you have
some skill, some area of interest and would like to help others, Click on the
“update my account” menu selection. Log in with your email address and
password. Check the Help Line box to begin participating and receive Help Line
email requests.
Everyone who has indicated an interest will receive an email from a person
looking for help. You may respond or not as it appears to fit your skill and
interest.
If you have additional questions, please contact the Mentorship chair at the
