For those of you who may have enjoyed the bandsaw box I call Woody (he somehow got a Beginner's Blue Ribbon at the Gathering of the Guilds show), I've just completed another such box I'm calling Buffalo Bub. He's a commission for a friend who saw Woody, and asked for a "buffalo." Woody was Doug Fir, while this buffalo dude is poplar and basswood. I'd made the core from poplar before we made the run up the Gorge to get cheap wood from Dan Brewer. I got mostly basswood slabs there, and used a bit of it for the added pieces of the buffalo box. I'm planning on making more of these, and getting into carving a little more, and the next ones will be all basswood.
