I happened to notice what I believe to be a good deal in a catalog today, so I thought I'd start a topic here where we could post about such things.

In the April Duluth Trading catalog that came recently, they listed a new product of interest to woodworkers. It's a forged iron (not cast, like the lousy ones that Harbor Freight sells), made in U.S.A. hold down (or hold fast), for a very decent price of $13.95. I have a Gramercy Tools pair, of different design, from Tools for Working Wood, that are super handy and work great, for $17.95 each or $31.95 for a pair. The Duluth ones here are only $13.95 each, which looks like a very decent deal.

If you've not used hold downs like these (and they require 3/4" round dog holes in your bench), you might want to get one or two and find out how very fast and effective they are in use.
